Department Policies for Program 60 Participants

Policies for Program 60 participation and enrollment vary by department at Ohio State. Be sure to consider the information below when selecting courses.

 

American Sign Language


American Sign Language courses are unavailable to Program 60 participants.

Art


The Department of Art requires instructor permission for Program 60 participant enrollment into any art classes. Program 60 participants may take the same art course no more than two times, which will be verified before the participant is enrolled.

Aviation


Aviation courses 2101, 2102, 2501, 3101, 4101, 4301, 5101, 5102, all ground courses must be taken before possible eligibility for flight courses.

Chinese


Individualized course instruction for all Chinese courses is unavailable to Program 60 participants.

Clinical / Medicine


Courses in Dentistry, Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, and any additional courses with a clinical element are unavailable to Program 60 participants.

Education: Teaching & Learning


Courses 1010, 1120, 1901, 1902, 1902.XX, and all English as a Second Language courses are unavailable to Program 60 participants.

Food Science and Technology


Course FDSCTE 1200, The Science for Cooking is not available to Program 60 participants. The department is not able to support students not enrolled for a grade.

French


Enrollments in beginner(1000 level) French courses will not be processed until after the online registration period has ended for credit-earning students. Please follow up with the instructor after the first Friday of classes to see if there is still room. With instructor permission, Program 60 participants may be enrolled after the first Friday of the semester and no later than the second Friday of classes, effectively the second week of classes.

Italian


Enrollments in Italian courses will not be processed until after the online registration period has ended for credit-earning students. Please follow up with the instructor after the first Friday of classes to see if there is still room. With instructor permission, Program 60 participants may be enrolled after the first Friday of the semester and no later than the second Friday of classes, effectively the second week of classes.

Law


The College of Law does not participate in Program 60 and therefore does not permit Program 60 participants to audit Law courses. Individuals wishing to sit in on a law class must receive permission from the instructor. In cases where individuals are granted this required instructor permission, they may sit in on the class as a guest of the professor.

Math


Math Advising provides enrollment permission into mathematics courses. The Program 60 Course Enrollment Request form will route all math course enrollment requests to Math Advising.

Philosophy


Philosophy courses 3001 and 3002 are not open to Program 60 participants but are open only to students in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) major program.

Spanish and Portuguese


Enrollments in Spanish and Portuguese courses will not be processed until after the online registration period has ended for credit-earning students.
